|FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS|
|WE WILL ADDED QUESTIONS TO THE FAQ AS NEEDED.|
To add a new question, please fill out this form:
We also are not excepting holds from the Fifty Shades of Grey series or similar works that are primarily erotica.
Additionally, new or yet unreleased fandoms cannot be apped until a certain period after their release has passed to give everyone a chance to play.
If you are picking up an MCU canon character who was previously in the game, then yes you will have to keep their previous game canon, but may be able to re-negotiate details / relationships with other players. In either case, if something is agreed upon by both parties, a line can be retconned or dropped (say the previous Hawkeye decided to give up avenging and become a ballerina.)
If you have a power that can affect the city of New York or cause large scale destruction, we are not dampening powers but ask that they be used sparingly. When used, (i.e. Bruce Banner hulks out, Storm creates a city wide rainstorm) contact the mods and post in the OOC community to let others know.
Alternately you could interpret that every character is from a slightly different parallel universe a la this and there are 1000+ fucked up universe now. Oops
If you would like to bring in a child under the age of 10, an earth-breaking magical / technological weapon, or some similiar item of power, please mention it the Items of Note section.
Additionally, the Tesseract periodically sends "gifts" about twice a year that can be personal items from home smaller than a car, pets from home smaller than a large dog, non-playable robots (so R2-D2 but not C3PO), children of your character under 10, or similiar things, so even if they're missing something super important to them, they might not have to be for too long!
We're extremely pro-active on triggering topics to make this game a safe environment and if we ask clarification, please don't take it as a sign of distrust or disapproval, but a commitment to the safety and consideration of all players. RP should not cross into OOCly unsafe for the sake of something that might be interesting IC. We're not interested in telling you no right off the bat, but we do want any portrayals of physical or mental disorder, trauma, or victimization to be thoughtful and realistic.
Further, while we cannot obviously change things in characters' backstory, this game is not the proper place to initiate plots regarding sexual assault, miscarriage and pregnancy complications, novel addiction or terminal disease not rooted in the character's canon, or intimate partner violence--intentionally or non-intentionally.
So in brief, no, we will not do any love potion plots.
But always be aware, once something goes beyond planning stages to the game or superheroic teams in game, things have a tendency to spiral and some characters, particularly those harmed or in law enforcement may call for IC consequences. This is not an OOC targeting or offense, but possession may not serve as an IC excuse for all characters.
X-Men, Daredevil, the original Spider-Man trilogy, Ghost Rider, Blade, Punisher, the 2005 Fantastic Four, and Howard the Duck are not included on this, nor are any animated films or properties.
We know this is complicated, but Marvel as we know it doesn't exist in this world. You can't google any of the comic book or animated characters and find information about them, beyond a few references to their arrival through the tesseract's portal. There aren't silly GIFs, photos or drawings of any of them with the exception of things like candid photos or event photos of MCU Avengers (i.e. Tony on a red carpet). It's disappointing, we know, but that's how things are. It's a pretty easy thing to get confused when everyone else can be accessed on the internet, so just try to remember that Marvel stuff is mostly off limits.
The most notable exceptions to this would be Captain America, Iron Man/Tony Stark, Thor and the Hulk (NOT Bruce Banner; specifically the big green guy) because they all made big names for themselves. Yep, there's probably fan art somewhere. When in doubt, ask us!
You CANNOT buy any licensed products or find fanworks of non-MCU Avengers, Bucky Barnes, Nick Fury, Peggy Carter, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Loki, or similar characters. The only possible exceptions would be work made by fellow refugees or custom ordered by characters that are significant comic fans in their home universe.
We officially diverged from MCU Canon in August 2014 but still strive to incorporate MCU media as faithfully as possible with alterations to accommodate existing game canon and increase IC involvement.
Essentially, you can apply any MCU character not in play, a villain, or otherwise out of play. Deceased characters will arrive through the Tesseract as per normal refugees while recently deceased characters can be addressed on a case by case basis. We will also consider MCU versions of characters not already announced for films though unfortunately, not mutants. #magnetowasright
Due to the finite number of MCU characters, the MCU will count as a large fandom, with a cap of 5 characters, with no more than two "main characters".
Please be considerate when using strikethroughs and do not use them to repeatedly make points in an argument to which other characters cannot respond.
It is possible to make a second profile, say "Spider-Man" to interact with people on the network as "Spider-Man" as opposed to "Peter Parker" which could help on maintaining secret identities. Again, just indicate somehow "username: Spider-Man" or the like.
That said, as a player, you are welcome to lock your posts, if you'd prefer.
SHIELD has been rebuilding this database through work with SWORD since July 2014, and this is not publicly available.
In spring of 2014, following the Convergence, the Rising Tide, an internet hacktivist collective began gaining prominence through publishing evidence of SHIELD on the internet. These leaks reached a head following the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier whereupon Natasha Romanoff revealed that SHIELD was housing HYDRA and leaked both agencies secrets to the internet.
Following this, SHIELD was declared a terrorist organization by many nations wishing to distance themselves from HYDRA, or SHIELD's own less than entirely legal or ethical action over 70 years. Most individual (refugee) SHIELD agents were cleared of criminal charges, but still viewed as suspect. To the general public, SHIELD and HYDRA are much the same thing. Though SHIELD has gained some good press in Europe gaining support from France, Greece, the UK, and recently the United Nations.
It is now re-established in the US but in a smaller form. It's not a frequently discussed public agency though the agency will exist in its new form with more transparency,
In coming months, there will be more chances for some characters to leave the planet for jaunts, but you still have network access then. Don't ask how.
Also, be aware that moving out can significantly limit interaction. There are ways to make even the most paranoid players work in a group.
All wards of Stark Industries (those under 18 years of age who do not have guardians) are monitored very closely, as they are considered the responsibility of the company as a whole. Because of this, there is no if he gets caught; it's a when situation. Depending on the how he acquires a gun and what he does after getting it, the consequences will vary. Just transporting a gun through New York state carries a $150 fine and up to 150 days in prison. It's illegal for 21 and unders to own handguns, but for rifles/shotguns, you only need to be 18 for those. It's safe to assume that no one under the age of 18 and 21 will be getting permits for weapons, according to NYC state law.
This sucks, but it's one of the most obviously unrealistic events that pops up with minors.
They can argue against this, but they must be enrolled in school. If they do not sign up for classes, it will be assumed they are taking a math course, a literature course, a science course, a history course, and at least one semi-academic elective.
Since the bar is only offered twice a year in NYS, assume that Stark Charities can get you a test date within 2 months of your arrival and results within a month. Medical doctors will need to be licensed but just need Step 3.
All professionally certified individuals will be on the fast track because, well, you were a doctor/lawyer/whatever in your world.
There is currently an anti-super powered individual preacher, Ike Carlton, who is leading anti-hero sentiments, but this is not entirely directed at refugees
Drinking from humans in any way is unacceptable here, and vampires will be punished if they're caught using anything besides the above three options!
1. It's in YOUR journal. Do you know it's happening? Or is it like OOC knowledge only with strikeouts? Which leads to question part 2...1. It is OOC knowledge. Your character gets no notifications that they're replying. However, someone skilled with computers would be able to tell through other means that they are replies they cannot access. 2. We would prefer it not be hackable.
